Welcome to 1ChrisMiller.com!

The website devoted not to just one Chris Miller, but throwing a light on other people out there who happen to have the same name as me.

There are Chris Miller's everywhere, in the NFL and Pro Skating, they are writers for movies like Shrek and National Lampoons Animal House, there are others even in the same city as me.

The reason this site exists at all is because of a thread in a domaining forum about wether or not people own the domains for their own name. I mentioned the thread to a friend of mine who was able to pick up his last name because it is an uncommon one, Flinkfelt.com. I on the other had figured that any variation of my name would have been snatched up a long time ago. With such a common name I was unable to find a decent domain as far back as 2004.

But that same friend purchased this domain name, 1ChrisMiller.com, for me as a birthday present. The problem was that the domain name sat there unused as I was unsure about what to do with it. I already had a blog, several actually, and they had recently overwhelmed me to the point where I stopped working on them.

Then two things happened. The first was that I ran Chris Miller as a search term through Overture. This tells you how many times various words are searched for on Yahoo in a month.

Chris Miller was at 759 searches a month.

The second thing that happened was that I was cleaning out old unlabled CD-R and DVD-R's and I came across what essentially is this site. An old website that I had built after Rage Warehouse died that I had uploaded to the free webspace at Tripod. I had become annoyed at its original name, which oddly enough was One Drunk, and deleted it online.

When I came across the old website I thought about the domain name, made some changes, a few additions and voila!.

Here it is, 1 Chris Miller.

The truth is none of this is new. Not only is the site old, from roughly early 2000, it is rehosted here as a kind of personal archive of past achievements and ideas. A scrap book for memories, only not so private. Even the idea of 1 Chris Miller isn't new, (not that my friend had anyway of knowing) I had posted this idea about being the top ranked Chris Miller when my name was entered into a search engine briefly just before the site was deleted.

The idea of moving this site up the ranks of search engine results intrigues me as this is something I know a little about from running Microsite Media. With well over a million pages competing for the Chris Miller search term on both Yahoo and Google I'll have my work cut out for me.

But I guess everybody needs a hobby.
