There is no cat. The cat does not exist.
Try telling that to some of the people that read this leaflet
though and they don't want to believe you. They say they love
their pets and yet they seem to harbor some kind of idea that
as much as they love animals someone out there in the dark hates
animals. Somewhere people are torturing defensless animals for
fun. Sure they are, companies like Gillette are nortorius for
animal experimentation but who would go through getting a cat
fixed, making and distributing this leaflet just to kill the animal
in a few days? Who in their right mind would put up a leaflet
like this?
The only answer to that question is me. In my opinion it is
blatantly obvious that this leaflet is not a real lost cat leaflet.
however from past experience I can tell you that a majority of
people will not look past the text, they will see nothing but
an authentic lost cat leaflet. And they will be outraged. It will
give them some little reason to feel involved in their community,
they will put down the bon-bons, set the remote on mute during
a commercial and make a phone call. Probably to the police or
maybe the animal protection society. I doubt if many people will
email me directly to challenge me on the leaflet except to say
that they have already notified authorities.
So why do it? There is no good reason. Maybe its because the
leaflet has been sitting around for 4 years already without being
distributed. Maybe I want people to question what they see and
read in regards to advertising. Maybe the devil made me do it.
