Spider Box

the spider box is a mixture of the violet and pink or brown boxes. It can also be used as those boxes whose only function is that of a hold button or as a cheap , manually operated call forwarder (single calls only) the spider boxs name comes from its shape and when used it appears to be climbing up the junction box.

materials

  • 1 470 ohm resistor (many values possible in a pinch)
  • 2 pieces of wire 4-6 inches long (one red and one green)
  • 4 alligator clips

construction

1. strip the center on each of the two wires

2. twist the leads of the resistor around the center of each wire and solder.

3. strip each end of the two wires and attach the alligator clips. note: the spider box should look roughly like an H, with the resistor as the middle cross bar.

usage

1. the spider box can be used to busy out 1 or 2 phone lines by clipping the red and green wires onto the red and green posts in a junction box.

2. to use as a violet box you’ll only need one set of red and green wires. biege box a call on a targets line to a 900# or to a foriegn country number that repeats itself, like the weather. once you are connected attach the red and green alligator clips to the line. it will keep the phone off hook while you disconnect your biege box and leave. See the violet box file for information on how to use it for free phone calls from cocots.

3. it can also be used as a pink or brown box (connect two lines together for a conference call) by connecting one end of the red and green wires to your line and the other end to another line. while biege boxing you can connect two lines together and either clip directlyonto one line or attach the biege box clips to either side of the resistor. if when connecting two lines you have black and yellow wires instead of red and green remember that red goes to black and green goes to yellow.

4. the spider box can also be used to stop a trace. have a friend waiting somewhere with two phone lines, a spider box, and a biege box. call in on one line and have your friend pick up your call and use the spider box to put you on hold. he then connects to the other line and makes a call to say, the white house, where you know they will try and trace you. now your friend connects the spider box to that line, makes sure you are still there, disconnects his biege box and leaves. when they trace the call it will be to the number your friend dialed out on and not the one you called from or the one you called in to. to be extra funny attach a string to the spider box and tape and tape it to the door or cover of the junction box. that way if someone opens it they will pull the spider box off of the terminals and they wont know what number you called in on.

5. as in number 4 you can use the spider box to forward your call. this time to an 800# for an ldc. now you can sit in the privacy of your own home and make ileagal calling card calls. just remmebr to use the # key to make another call and not to hang up. in most areas even if the other line gets hung up on it will regain dial tone. if you miss that second dial tone you are shit out of luck.
